Firmware 2.4 Between June 10-18

We all know its coming. Well, we have actually known sense PS3 launch so its safe to say that its coming. Now with a video leak from developers, and more murmurs from both Sony, a few dates are being tossed around. A few of the sites are claiming that June 10th is going to be the much awaited launch date while PS Only claims that the June 10th date is actually incorrect, but do go to state that In game XMB is indeed confirmed and Trophies is a maybe. If the update does indeed go live, many also speculate that custom Soundtracks while also come witch means that instead of the game music, you will be able to bring up the XMB, go to your music section and select any song you wish, instead of the game soundtrack.

Now, this option isn’t a deal breaker for anybody I personally don’t like it. First, the idea isn’t just appealing to me but more, I feel like this takes away from the game. Imagine watching Indiana Jones without hearing the Indy theme or playing Final Fantasy 7 and not hearing Sephiroth theme kick in. I feel like when a developer scores a game, to the same extent that when a composer scores a movie, that given sheet music is designed to extend and expand the game via the emotion it can bring. It can help heighten the excitement or the tragedy of a scene. Imagine during the ending of Final Fantasy X, instead of hearing the Zanarkand Theme as Tidus hugs Yuna and starts to go away, your hearing Toxic. Just not the same effect.
