It seems for PlayStation gamers there’s no end to the now full week PlayStation Network outage. The PlayStation Network has over 70 million users that have taken to social media outlets to voice their frustration, which is not only due to the outage but the lack of updates from Sony regarding status of the PlayStation Network.
What has fed the flame is the lack of updates from Sony to its users – Sony has various social media outlets to communicate to their users whatever their need might be to; however, they’ve chosen to stick to their official PlayStation blogs (the Europe and US blog). Which would be acceptable had they posted updated more frequently than every 24-48 hours. Though that can’t be said for both blogs – after a little digging I’ve uncovered the difference in the European and US blog.
Most of PlayStation’s users such as I have been relying on Sony’s US PlayStation blog for their updates regarding the status of their beloved PlayStation Network, and have been met with messages such as this one posted yesterday:
I know you are waiting for additional information on when PlayStation Network and Qriocity services will be online. Unfortunately, I don’t have an update or timeframe to share at this point in time.
As we previously noted, this is a time intensive process and we’re working to get them back online quickly. We’ll keep you updated with information as it becomes available. We once again thank you for your patience. + Posted by Patrick Seybold // Sr. Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media
What came as a shock was reading the Sony’s PlayStation European blog, which has managed to provide much more detail regarding their status with fixing the network.
We sincerely regret that PlayStation Network and Qriocity services have been suspended, and we are working around the clock to bring them both back online. Our efforts to resolve this matter involve re-building our system to further strengthen our network infrastructure. Though this task is time-consuming, we decided it was worth the time necessary to provide the system with additional security.
We thank you for your patience to date and ask for a little more while we move towards completion of this project. We will continue to give you updates as they become available. Posted on 24 April by James Gallagher – Blog Manager, SCEE
It’s amazing to see the difference in information (or lack thereof) provided to its community regarding their work on the network. Any who for those still questioning when the network and Qriocity services will be back up, it’ll be a little longer of a wait; however, I would much rather wait knowing their beefing up their security.
Be sure to check in for the latest coverage on the PlayStation and Qriocity outage.
