Street Fighter X Tekken Will Have Cross-Platform DLC

A few weeks ago, Capcom announced that their highly-aniticipated crossover fighter Street Fighter X Tekken (pronounced Street Figthter Cross Tekken) would be coming to both the PS3 and the PlayStation Vita. The company also said that both versions will be pretty much identical graphically and gameplay-wise.

I was quite skeptical after hearing that the PS3 version would be the same as the Vita until I learned that they both platforms will recieve cross-platform DLC.

What’s Cross-Platform DLC you may be asking?

Cross-Platform DLC allows players who have both the PS3 and PS Vita Street Figthter X Tekken games need only purchase the DLC once. This DLC (provided both the PS3 and Vita use the same PSN user account) can then be shared between the two systems.

Producer Yoshihiro Ono said this about cross-platform DLC in his interview with Joystiq:

“With the PS3 and the Vita, yes, they’re different hardware, but they’re part of the same Playstation family, so to speak, so we’re already talking with Sony about ways to sync things together. As long as you’re using the same PSN account, things you’ve purchased on the Vita version will work on PS3 and vice versa.”

Ono also said that Capcom will support the game with free and paid DLC for a long time so players can rest assured that the game will have a community not unlike Marvel Vs. Capcom or the popular Street Fighter IV.
