Many of you, specifically our long-time readers, will note that we’ve been expanding our web footprint quite a bit over these last few months. Besides our Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and revamped YouTube page, we just recently debuted our forums. Designed to give all you Sony and PlayStation fans a place to converse, debate, and troubleshoot your gear, our forums section is going to be an integral part of how we handle many of our future projects. Best of all, our new forums will help you get one step closer to the people in the industry that you care about, but more on that in a bit.
‘Community Spotlight’ has been a long-time-coming segment which is meant to highlight the people in the industry that you care about and want to know more about. If you’re tired of the traditional PR machine and the same 5-10 tame questions that they ask for, then ‘Community Spotlight’ is what you’ve been waiting for. We want to interview people like David Jaffe, Veronica Belmont, Ted Price, and Meredith Molinari and get to know them. We find to find out what projects they are working on, what their favorite comic book is, and why the first website they visit every morning is SRN.
If we left ‘Community Spotlight’ at that, it would be a noteworthy feature but nothing more than a well done interview. I myself grew up in Michigan where I lived till 2006 and would have never believed that, by 2012, I would have opportunities to meet people like Sony’s CEO, Sir Howard Stringer, J.J. Abrams, and form relationships with creative industry people like Rey Gutierrez. The people that I followed closely digitally were now a real thing which would result in real opportunities and pave the way for me to create this website. Not all of us can afford to just pack our bags and move to LA or the Silicon Valley but considering the age we live in, that shouldn’t be a barrier either.
‘Community Spotlight’ is designed to shine a light on the people that you care about and bring them onestep closer to you. That means that while we have a list of questions that we want to inquire from these personalities, the real star of the show will be you. We want them to address the questions you’ve been wanting to ask feed your passion. So how will this work and what does it have to do with our forums section? Quite simply put, the forums section will be the place where you can post 5 questions (though we can’t promise that they will all be answered) for a given interview. After the end date, we’ll gather those questions, put them together and conduct our interview, based on the community. So you see, 3 easy steps can get you closer then ever to the industry:
- You read our ‘Community Spotlight’ article about our new guest and navigate to linked forum article where you post your top 5 questions
- We take your questions, compile them, and conduct an interview
- We post the interview for your reading and/or viewing pleasure
To help kick things off in a big way, the lovely and extremely talented Meredith Molinari will be our first guest. PlayStation fans will know her work as the host of The Tester, the PlayStation-exclusive reality TV show which pits dedicated gamers against one another to earn a job at PlayStation. Think that’s all there is to know about this geeky model? Think again as this self confessed “word nerd” will outwit your Words with Friends strategy, go toe-to-toe with the guys in sports, and will still make time to visit the nearest rescue shelter and help a dog in need.
Did we mention that this one-of-a-kind fashionista is also obsessed with the UFC? If you’re ready to learn more about Meredith, her career, likes/dislikes, and PlayStation’s The Tester, then visit our forums and post the top 5 questions that you’d like to see answered for our first ever ‘Community Spotlight’ interview. Remember, only questions submitted at our forums will be asked during the interview, so make sure to click the button below to navigate to the forums!
