While the Sony Xperia ion was shown off at CES, Sony’s first dip into 4G LTE technology, no official release date was given. Featuring a 4.6-inch display (1280 x 720), 12.1-megapixel camera, and 1.5GHz dual-core CPU with 1GB RAM, the ion, exclusive to AT&T was destined to be the companies flagship phone for the better part of 2012. With Summer nearing, many have expressed their doubts on Sony being able to deliver the phone in a timely fashion, especially in the wake of the continued success of the iPhone 4S and the newly announced Samsung Galaxy S3. Now, thanks to a Google Ad by Sony Mobile, all indications point to a June timetable and exclusivity with AT&T.
Though the ad is a far cry from confirmation, its the first real evidence we have of Sony preparing the device for US shores. With June just a few weeks away, it would make sense for Sony to begin building a marketing offensive for the impressive phone. With AT&T as a partner, we can only hope that Sony is able to offer a proper subsidized price and not an outlandish unlocked price which will surely peg the phone with an $500+ price.

Do you think Sony will be able to deliver the Xperia ion in June?
