Spring cleaning is always fun when its from the computer maker of your choice. While prices tend to stay the same or sometimes even drop, the VAIO from just a day ago is instead reborn with new specs inside, ready to be unleashed on your Facebook and YouTube habits. The Sony VAIO S 13-inch and 15-inch are no different as we’ve received word from Sony about this year’s Spring update, which includes Intel Ivy Bridge Core i5 or Core i7 processors. Lets talk details after the jump.

The Sony VAIO S comes in a 13-inch and 15-inch variation with a backlit keyboard and a thin design with your choice of aluminium, magnesium, or carbon fiber body. The VAIO S 13-inch will be available with a Intel Ivy Bridge Core i5 or Core i7 processors. Sony has yet to announce the screen resolution and default RAM which will at minimum be 4GB. Owners of either the 13-inch or 15-inch variants will also be happy about the now-standard Blu-ray drive for Sony VAIO computers while optional SSD drives, LTE/3G WWAN card, and sheet battery with up to 14 hours of longevity can be selected.

As expected, the VAIO S 15-inch packs quite a bit of punch and more horsepower than its smaller sibling. Sony has outfitted the unit with Intel Ivy Bridge Core i7-3612QM processor, 8GB of RAM, a dedicated NVIDIA GT640M LE GPU graphics card and an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 graphics card as well. Those with a keen eyes for detail or movie affectionados who wish to enjoy their Blu-ray movies properly will be happy about the laptop’s 1080p IPS screen. According to Sony, the new display:

 features enhanced scratch resistance and an anti-reflective coating to minimise glare, even when you’re outdoors. 

The VAIO S series usually start at $750 for the 13-inch model and build from there though we’ve yet to receive any specifics on price for the latest round of updated units.

Available as an option, a new docking station for S Series includes an integrated a 500GB hard disk drive. It’s a great way to back up all your files automatically when you’re in the office or to add more storage. There’s also an optional sheet battery that boosts stamina up to 14 hours for those long continental flights.
