Sony Pictures Sells Cable Syndication Rights of ‘Rules Of Engagement’ to TBS

Rules of Engagement

According to the PR News Wire, Sony Pictures Television (Breaking Bad, Justified, Community) has sold the cable syndication rights to Rules of Engagement, the CBS hit comedy series, to TBS. The deal was finalized by John Weiser, President of U.S. Distribution for Sony Pictures Television. In recent years, TBS has scored other big shows like The Big Bang Theory and host Conan O’Brian who now commands his own show against other late night shows like David Letterman and Jay Leno. Weiser said:

“We recently shot the 100th episode, which speaks to the ongoing appeal of this series and its cast….”This show consistently outperforms its competition in adult demos and households and we’re very excited to be partnering with our friends at Turner Broadcasting.”

Despite the show facing heavy competition from other Monday night shows at 8:30pm, Rules of Engagement has continued to perform in its fifth season. The show now ranks as the #1 CBS network comedy in repeatability. In fact, the series is currently airing in broadcast syndication in 96% of the country on leading stations in major markets including New York (Tribune), Los Angeles (KCAL9/CBS) and Chicago (WCIU-TV/Weigel).
