You’ve been clamoring for it and we’ve finally got the news you’ve been craving. Ever since the arrival of Windows 8, many wondered what the fate of the VAIO Z lineup would be. The series is known for its slim and powerful design but lacked touchscreen capabilities, a staple of Windows 8. As time went on, it became apparent that Sony would phase out what inventory they had of the Windows 7 laptop and so many looked to CES for an update pro line. When CES came and went, still no news came from Sony’s pro line, leaving many to wonder if Sony was exiting that category with a focus on consumer devices. Now, thanks to a tipster, we can announce that Sony will once again be entering the category with the unannounced Sony VAIO Pro Ultrabook.
The first that comes to mind about this new series from Sony is the name. Simple and to the point. Consumers will no longer have to decipher where the VAIO Z falls in the lineup of computers from Sony, let alone its competitors, even if it’s taking a cue from Apple. The unannounced VAIO Pro will come in a 11- and 13-inch (SVP11XX, SVP13XX) screen sizes with three colors to choose from; red, silver, and black.
While details are still a bit light, we know that the series will offer Intel Core i5 and Core i7 1.8 GHz processors (both Haswell) with an Intel HD4400 graphics card, USB 3.0, HDMI Out, and Flash Memory. The 13-inch model in particular is believed to come with a FullHD Triluminous LCD and 512GB SSD. It remains to be seen if the 11-inch version will also be able to utilize the FullHD Triluminous LCD. It’s expected that the smaller of the two will pack 4GB maximum RAM.
If weight is your thing, then prepare to be blown away as the 11- and 13-inch VAIO Pro models come in at 1KG and 1.1KG. We’ll have more on this as it develops.
Thanks again to our tipster!
