A Multitasking Phone That’s Easy on the Eyes
The Sony Xperia M is a petite device at 124 x 62 x 9.3 mm and weighs in lightly at 115 grams/4.06 ounces. It comes in black, white, purple and yellow, while a dual-sim version is available in these colors minus yellow. It features Sony’s OmniBalance design language as seen in the popular Xperia Z. This adopts the alluring aluminium power button and a centered screen for smooth, one handed-operation. There is also a gentle curvature on the back designed to provide a comfortable feel and grip to the user.
A key differentiator of this phone in the mid-range section is the 1GB of RAM. In this price range, this is excellent value. This ensures a smooth movement throughout the phone even with multiple apps open without any hint of lag.
The camera features two all-important features of Sony’s 2013 smartphones. There is a HDR function which instantly adapts to any strong backlight, resulting in a well-lit, colorful picture. Also present is the illustrious Exmor RS sensor which provides maximum natural light into the lens. Additionally, the phone boasts a panorama feature, 4x digital zoom, and a dedicated camera button on the side.
Are you a music lover? While the main focus of this slim beauty draws attention to the camera, the full specification for the phone reveals a premium audio experience. The handset supports xLoud, Surround Sound, Clear Bass, Clear Audio, Clear Stereo, Clear Phase and the Walkman app. The Micro SD slot allows memory expansion too.
There are a few other neat features that set the device apart. You will find Sony’s trademark illumination bar at the bottom of the phone. This adapts the LED colours to match the screen during certain functions such as browsing the Walkman or Album apps. HD voice support is integrated for crystal clear calls. Bluetooth 4.0 allows the most up to date interactivity with wireless devices. Sony also provides the battery boosting app STAMINA. The STAMINA app is used to calculate remaining battery life. It can switch phone functions according to battery level, such as brightness or even disabling data and wi-fi when the screen is off. Gamers don’t get left out, with full PlayStation certification too.
The battery life for the Xperia M is 10 hours 18 minutes 2G talk time with 552 hours standby time. The music listening time is 39 hours and video playback is 9 hours 42 minutes.*
