You might not know it and blame Sony’s marketing heads but Sony has had a stellar year in cameras. While companies like Canon and Nikon have been taking part in the traditional upgrade cycle of cameras, Sony introduced a slew of new hardware with some fantastic results. This list includes the Sony RX1 and RX10 which include a 1-inch sensor, the full-frame Sony Alpha 7 and 7R, and the Sony DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100 external lenses for Smartphones which add greater megapixels and zoom for your iOS or Android smartphone. As I said, you may not have known Sony released all these products, let alone in one calendar year but they’ve done just that and according to Sony, 2014 will be no different with some “surprising” announcements to come.
According to DC.Watch, a Japanese website who conducted an interview with Sony manager Mr. Kimio, Sony has many surprises for the year to come. While the translation is a bit rough, many of his points are easy enough to understand. While Mr. Kimio couldn’t directly comment on the announcements at hand, he did insist that Sony is not looking to leave the A-mount market. Rumors have persisted in the last year that Sony would further focus on their mirror less E-mount cameras, a market that Canon and Nikon have yet to break into. Sony also introduced their full-frame Alpha 7 and 7R as an E-mount camera.
The ratio of the mirror-less often is certain. However, there are circumstances the launch of new body of the mirror-less machine that had many this year. Because there is the wave of new product introductions cycle, it does not mean that one is that important either as Sony. I also will continue to respond in accordance with the market situation also differs from each region.
Various types will come to you. Mirrorless camera of premium class, such as the α7 because I did not exist, a new category will go formed here until now. Conventional SLR is no longer sold in the manner described above on the other hand. In In terms SLR whether useless, single-lens reflex camera with high hobby is not represent a large presence well. So how should we to pursue the like Sony “camera as a hobby” in that, in the inspiring experience.
Still, from his comments it is clear that Sony sees more volume and importance in their E-mount line of cameras where they are finding more success. Sony also wants to continue to focus on the high end market. With smartphones eating into budget cameras like the introductory Cyber-shot line of pocket cameras and Sony’s own high end smartphones shipping with 20-megapixel image sensors, it’s easy to see consumers not being interested in an additional device that offers similar features. However, Sony believes that interest for high end devices that have more features and better quality than what a smartphone can provide is a market they wish to further pursue. While not spelling it out, such a market is also more profitable for Sony than the already highly busy entry compact camera market.
While still a very young product and not yet a hit with consumers, Sony believes that there is a future in the QX series of external lenses for smartphones:
You also associated with integration with smart phones, but it was on the market also QX series of Cyber-shot style camera lens. It is a product of the very young, but you can also it becomes to products mediate between the camera and smartphone, to obtain the know-how various terms of linkage of smart phone and a single camera.
With CES 2014 around the corner, expect to hear and see a lot more from Sony’s camera strategy though Sony likely won’t reveal all of their products at that event and will instead opt to reveal additional lines and devices at IFA.

What products would you like to see Sony expand or improve in their camera lineup?
