Let’s be honest, we can’t all afford flagship devices like the current Sony Xperia Z1 or its upcoming successor, the Xperia Z2. Better yet, sometimes we don’t need one (looking at you, mom and dad!). To that end, Sony also offers a mid-range of Android smartphones to cater to those with fewer needs. The latest one to join Sony’s mid-range is the Xperia G, but don’t think of the device as a slouch. Sony is is packing in some great features like a 4.8-inch HD display and NFC. After the jump, we divulge all the leaked specs from the Sony Xperia G.
The Sony Xperia G will be sporting a 4.7-inch 720p HD display though it remains doubtful if it will gain waterproof status like the Xperia Z line. While the specific processor has yet to be identified, we’ve been assured that it will be some form of dual-core Snapdragon processor with 1GB RAM. The Xperia G will also offer a respectable 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 8GB of internal memory to match.
LTE will be baked in every model in edition to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The Sony Xperia G will also feature NFC for easy accessory pairing and mobile payments. Other things we know is the inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack and micro USB for charging. Unlike the Xperia Z1 and Z2, which offer a glass back, it’s likely that the Xperia G will instead resort to plastic which isn’t all that bad, nor is it surprising for a mid-range phone. Though not revealed, by the time the Xperia G is announced (in the coming months) and released, Android 4.4 KitKat should be the stock OS, like the Sony Xperia D5103, the company’s other soon-to-be-released mid-range Android smartphone.
