As predicted though mistakingly referred to as the Xperia G, Sony has also revealed a mid-range smartphone for those of us who cannot afford or don’t need their latest premium flagship smartphone. The Sony Xperia M2 is designed to be the companies mid-range Android phone for those who might get a bit of sticker shock from the Sony Xperia Z2. While lacking the glitz and glamour of the Xpeira Z2, mid-range phones are a crucial part of smartphone manufactures portfolio, especially in developing countries like India, Brazil, and even China.
Despite carrying the mid-range flag, Sony has packed the Xperia M2 with quite a bit of power, ensuring a smooth experience for would be owners. Lets talk specs and details.
The Sony Xperia M2 specs include:
- 4.8-inch 720p qHD Screen
- 1.2GHz Quad-core Snapdragon Processor
- 8-Megapixel Exmor RS camera
- 4G LTE
- Bluetooth
- NFC
- Wi-Fi
- 2300mAh battery
As it should, the Sony Xperia M2 doesn’t offer the latest high-tech specs out there but there is plenty to like. This includes its large 4.8-inc 720p (960 x 540) display which is driven by the 1.2GHz quad-core processor. While mid-range devices like this, including the Moto G often skimp out on connectivity with 3G, the Xperia M2 offers LTE support, as well as NFC for easy pairing with accessories. All of this comes in a slim profile of 8.6mm with a strong resemblance of the Xperia Z2.
Sure the Sony Xperia M2 might not include the same premium finish as the Xperia Z line but with the same ‘OmniBalance’ design language and a €220 price tag, you might not mind. The Sony Xperia M2 will launch globally in April though once again, readers in the US should not hold their breath for a launch.
