It’s been no secret that PlayStation and Naughty Dog had plans to bring The Last of Us to the PlayStation 4. When the game was originally delayed by a few months, many assumed that it was due to a shift in development and that the title would in fact come out for the PlayStation 4. While that did’t pan out, The Last of Us is now headed to the PS4 with development having begun directly after the PS3 title was released. Now let’s talk details about The Last of Us Remastered, which is being handled in house by Naughty Dog.
The Last of Us Remastered has been leaked quite a few times in the past 24 hours, including accidentally by Sony which soon had many wondering; would Naughty Dog be willing to hand their masterpiece to another studio which is the norm for most “ports” or would they take on the project themselves? Neil Druckmann, Creative Director, on the subject:
For those asking, @Naughty_Dog is developing The Last of Us Remastered and we’re targeting 60fps. More info to come. #PS4

Besides 60fps, what more can we expect from this ‘Remastered’ edition? A whole heck of a lot it seems, which includes:
- 1080p visuals
- Higher resolution character models
- Improved shadows and lighting
- Upgraded textures
- Even more improvements
- Exclusive director’s commentary for all in-game cinematics featuring Creative Director and Writer, Neil Druckmann; Voice Actor, Troy Baker, who plays Joel; and BAFTA Award winning Voice Actress, Ashley Johnson, who plays Ellie.
- Left Behind single player expansion
- Abandoned Territories multiplayer map pack
- Reclaimed Territories pack (details coming soon)
Beyond the above extras, those who pre-order the game can get quite a few extra perks from participating retailers like:
- 100 Supply Points (XP) for use in Factions mode
- Two special bonus skins for Joel and Ellie which will be unlocked after your complete the single player campaign
- Increased Crafting Speed for use in the Single Player Campaign
- Increased Healing Speed for use in the Single Player Campaign
- 9mm Reload Speed Increase Upgrade for use in the Single Player Campaign
- Rifle Clip Capacity Increase Upgrade for use in the Single Player Campaign
Luckily, Sony isn’t forgetting those of us who’ve gone completely digital as pre-orders through PSN have their own bonuses as well (note the three extras listed near the end!):
- 100 Supply Points (XP) for use in Factions mode
- Two special bonus skins for Joel and Ellie which will be unlocked after your complete the single player campaign
- Increased Crafting Speed for use in the Single Player Campaign
- Increased Healing Speed for use in the Single Player Campaign
- 9mm Reload Speed Increase Upgrade for use in the Single Player Campaign
- Rifle Clip Capacity Increase Upgrade for use in the Single Player Campaign
