The wait is over. Nathan Drake is officially returning in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, revealed at the end of Sony’s E3 Press Conference on Monday before the Expo officially began. Uncharted 4 will be released for the PlayStation 4 in 2015. Read on to see the first in-engine footage of the game recorded directly from a PS4, and hear from the game’s creative team about what’s next for the Uncharted franchise.
From the game’s official website, we’re given the first details on Uncharted 4‘s story:
Several years after his last adventure, retired fortune hunter, Nathan Drake, is forced back into the world of thieves. With the stakes much more personal, Drake embarks on a globe-trotting journey in pursuit of a historical conspiracy behind a fabled pirate treasure. His greatest adventure will test his physical limits, his resolve, and ultimately what he’s willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves.
Over on the PlayStation Blog, Uncharted 4‘s new creative team — following the departures of writer Amy Hennig and director Justin Richmond — spoke for the first time about the direction that they’re taking for what looks to be Nathan Drake’s last adventure.
The folks at GamingBolt have also learned that the footage from the teaser trailer above is from an actual level in the game, and not a rendered CG trailer as some online have been purporting.
We’re unlikely to see much more of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End until closer to the game’s release next year, but be sure to keep checking SonyRumors for all the latest.
