At CES 2014, Sony debuted the SWF-BR100, a wireless subwoofer that is designed to accompany Sony’s 2014 W and X series televisions. With the majority of the XBR fleet and W-series televisions now out in the market, we began to wonder if Sony was still planning on releasing the BR100. Now, we’ve learned the fate of the powerful 100W subwoofer and the price tag it carries.

Despite not being available to retailers like Best Buy till late Summer, Sony has curiously and quietly released the SWF-BR100 on their online outlet. Priced at $299, the Sony Wireless Subwoofer comes in your choice of black or white and is available for purchase today. Before pulling the trigger, it’s worth visiting Sony’s website to confirm compatibility with your television.

Though compatibility is limited, during our time with the SWF-BR100 at CES, we walked away quite impressed. Given its capability to seamlessly sync with your Sony TV, the BR100 gives you more placement choices for your subwoofer while otherwise, you’d be shackled by the range of cables.
