Over a year ago, Sony released the QX10 and QX100 attachable smartphone lenses. Compatible with iOS and Android devices, the mountable lenses would allow you to improve photos taken on your device by utilizing into their higher megapixel sensor and zoom lens. We already believe that Sony will announce the QX30 tomorrow at IFA 2014 with 30X optical zoom but now even a juicer product has leaked, the Sony ILCE-QX1 attachable smartphone lens with an E-mount lens.
If the leaks hold true, Sony will unveil the ILCE-QX1 tomorrow that will once again be compatible with iOS and Android devices. What makes the QX1 different from its predecessor is that, unlike past models which came with a fixed sensor and lens, the QX1 acts as an E-mount, allowing you to use any previous lenses you already own. It’s also believed that the QX1 will have even larger APS-C (26.7mm) sensor and take compatible E-Mount lenses. Based on the photos, the QX1 will once again feature a built-in memory card, making shooting large amounts of photos easier. No pricing as you’d expect has been announced but we should learn a lot more about the QX1 in the next few days to come.
If Sony can improve upon the speed and app functionality that lacked with the QX10 and QX100, the QX1 can act as a game changer and give NEX owners a great to way to utilize their E-mount lenses.
