If there was any doubt in your mind that Sony would be announcing the QX30, an attachable lens with 30X optical zoom for your smartphone then let them rest. As you can see from the above photo, the QX30 like its predecessor will once again clip to your iOS and Android smartphone to allow for superior pictures. While we don’t have have specs to reveal about the QX30 besides the 30x optical zoom, Sony for the most part has kept the design the same. Like previous models, the QX30 will latch on to your device and features manual controls for zoom and shutter. The QX30 also a separate battery and microSD card slot to help offset the burden that would otherwise be placed on your device.
After the jump, we have more details and lots more pictures to share with you.
The QX30 can be synced to your device via a simple tap, thanks to the built in NFC or connected via Wi-Fi. Though not confirmed, as the pictures below reveal, Sony will also be tweaking the UI which looks more in line with their NEX cameras and far sleeker then what’s currently available on the QX line. Hopefully this also translates to a more robust experience as our previous time with the QX10 was hampered due to it lacking software on our iPhone 5S. Another interesting reveal from the pictures is also the ability to tilt the QX lens. Previously, the QX10 and QX100 were fixed to your smartphone where as the picture above shows, you can now tilt your phone, giving you an feel that’s similar to the LCD screens on Sony’s Alpha and NEX cameras.
Sony should be announcing the DSC-QX30, along side the QX1 which allows for E-mount lenses at tomorrows IFA keynote in Berlin.

With a robust UI, would a device like the QX30 make it on your must have list?
