LittleBigPlanet has been a wonderful addition to the PlayStation catalog since Media Molecule debuted the original on the PlayStation 3 in 2008. Beyond the awesome creative tools and the cuteness of Sackboy, some of the great charm of the series lay in the narration of British comedy veteran Stephen Fry. With LittleBigPlanet 3 around the corner for PS4 and PS3, Fry is returning to narrate the adventures of Sackboy’s world, but he’s bringing along a few friends.
Revealed over on the PlayStation Blog and YouTube channel, LittleBigPlanet 3 will be the first fully voice acted installment in the series, led by Fry and House M.D. star Hugh Laurie. Laurie and Fry had previously collaborated on British television programs like Blackadder, Jeeves and Wooster, and the eponymously-named A Bit of Fry and Laurie. Laurie will play Newton, the nefarious counterpart to Fry’s Narrator, and will be Laurie’s first voiceover role for a video game production.
The PlayStation Blog also revealed a number of other notable additions to the cast, including Nathan Drake himself, Nolan North, and Tara Strong, voice of Harley Quinn in the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight among many other vocal roles. Sumo Digital, the developers responsible for the latest console iterations of LittleBigPlanet, also hinted at more members of the voice cast will be announced soon. For a bit more on Hugh Laurie’s role in particular, check out the video below. LittleBigPlanet 3 will be available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on November 18.
