PS4 System Software Update 2.01 Now Live, Fixes ‘Rest Mode’ Issue

PS4_Firmware_2_01PS4 System Software Update 2.0 brought with it numerous new features and enhancements to Sony’s flagship console along with some headaches as well. While for a majority of users (including us), the latest firmware update went without a hitch, for some members of the community, the firmware came with a bug which wouldn’t allow the system to wake up from Rest Mode, previously known as System Standby. Now Sony has released PS4 System Software Update 2.01 to address that.

The update itself weighs in at 217.2MB and, depending on your settings, may already be downloaded onto your console and ready for installation. For others, it’s worth going to Settings > System Software Update and checking for the download there. Official notes from Sony:

Main features in system software update version 2.01:

  • System software stability in turning on the power and entering rest mode has been improved.

Note:

  • Depending on the software title, you may not be able to play without first updating the PS4 system software.
  • Do not perform updates using any data other than the official update data provided by Sony Computer Entertainment over a network or on disc media, and do not perform updates by methods other than those described in the product documentation or in this site. If an update is performed using data from another source, by another method, or with a PS4 system that has been altered or modified in any way, the PS4 system may not operate properly and may not be able to install the official update data. Any of these actions may void the PS4 system warranty and affect your ability to obtain warranty services and repair services from Sony Computer Entertainment.
