Our friends at the Indonesian Postel Regulatory have come through once again. Just days after revealing three models numbers from Sony’s 2015 fleet of Xperia smartphones which likely includes their flagship Xperia Z4, the Indonesian equivalent to the FCC has likely spoiled Sony’s 2015 Xperia Tablet Z. In the past few years, despite a lack of success in the tablet market, Sony has continued to update and improve their slate offerings. While 2013 only saw Sony release one tablet, the Xperia Tablet Z, 2014 was a better year for company where they released the followup Xperia Z2 Tablet and a smaller Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact which offers a 8-inch screen.
More info after the jump.
According to the Indonesian Postel Regulatory, a new product from Sony in 2015 will carry the SGP771 model number. While not telling on its own, it’s also not hard to find the pattern. Sony’s Xperia tablets in the past have had the following model numbers:
- Xperia Tablet Z – SGP3XX
- Xperia Z2 Tablet – SGP5XX
- Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact – SGP6XX
With a new Sony SGP771 model out in the wild and the other leaked model numbers matching Sony’s smartphone pattern, it’s safe to say we know the model number that the next Sony tablet will have. What remains unclear at this point is whether this tablet will be an 8-inch model or a 10-inch model. With tablet development still being slow at Sony when compared to rivals and the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact being a fairly new device for the company, it’s likely that we’ll see another iteration of the 10-inch tablet from Sony, likely to be dubbed the Xperia Z4 Tablet.

Would you rather see a new 8-inch or 10-inch tablet from Sony?
