In the wake of the tragic earthquake in Nepal, which has claimed thousands of lives and caused a devastating amount of damage, Sony announced today that the company, along with its group companies, would offer financial support to help relief efforts.
The earthquake, which occurred on April 25th, 2015, was reported to be as high as an 8.1 magnitude with several aftershocks. As of this morning, the death toll has risen to just under 6000. The world is coming to the country’s aid as they work to recover from this disaster, and today, Sony Corp. announced that they’d be joining relief efforts by donating 5 million Japanese yen to the cause.
Sony is just one of many companies to donate resources to Nepal’s relief effort, and the country has a long road to recovery. You can get involved by donating to one of the many funds, including (but not limited to!) the Red Cross.
