Setting up the Sony Smart Bluetooth Speaker BSP60 is a breeze thanks to NFC, though traditional Bluetooth will do just fine. This also makes conference calls simple; just touch your NFC-enabled phone to the BSP60, and you’ll be ready to talk hands-free. Music can also be transferred just as easily. All that aside, what makes the BSP60 unique is its voice control features. According to Sony,
Voice controls on the speaker are designed to help multi-tasking by allowing users to perform common tasks like answering calls and reading (or in this case listening to), messages hands-free
This means that you ask it simple questions like “what’s the weather like?” and the BSP60 will answer back to you in any one of the eight languages that it supports. Those include:
- UK English
- US English
- French
- German
- Italian
- Japanese
- Russian
- Spanish
The Sony BSP60 can also connect to your calendars and show you upcoming tasks as well as set alarms and timers of your choosing. If you have a Sony SmartBand Talk, you can expect some enhanced functionality as the two can be paired with each other. The Sony Smart Bluetooth Speaker BSP60 is available for pre-order in Europe till mid-June when it becomes available for purchase.
Those who pre-order will be able to take advantage of an exclusive bundle which includes the SmartBand Talk (SWR30). The Sony SWR30 and BSP60 bundle is available for a limited time for EUR 299. According to Sony, countries which will receive the BSP60 include the USA, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Singapore, Ireland, Switzerland, and Luxembourg, though it’s not clear if those are in addition to Europe (seeing how countries like Austria and Belgium are part of Europe).
