Though lacking a release date, No Man’s Sky has been one of those titles that gamers can’t wait to see more of and hear more about. The indie title is being developed by a handful of developers, yet the ambition behind the project easily matches any AAA title we’ve seen. Still, PlayStation UK boss Fergal Gara think that we shouldn’t think of this game as your run-of-the-mill small release, and that No Man’s Sky has
the potential to go beyond the usual expectations of an ‘indie’ title.
In fact so much so that Sony is planning on putting the full weight of PlayStation behind the game. His remarks after the jump.
Once again, Fergal Gara:
No Man’s Sky has been treated as if it was from one of our internal studios. We have been working very closely with the developers and bringing it into our release program as if we had made it. We are not going to treat it any differently and we are going to put the full weight of PlayStation behind it. If it all comes together as well as expected, it will be treated like a first-party release; it is not a self-published small indie title on the platform.
Chances are, we’ll learn more about No Man’s Sky at E3 this year.
