In the UK, the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet was on the cusp of being released to consumers. Here to replace the aging Xperia Z2 Tablet, the Z4 Tablet was the newest flagship product from Sony Mobile. However, just prior to its release, Sony bumped the release back by a week with the option to order one completely removed.
Those in the UK were originally expecting to receive their tablets by the end of May. Now Sony is quoting customers a June 5th shipment while removing the option to order any more units from their website. The optimist in me would like to believe that this is due to high volume orders but that doesn’t make much sense. First, why take away the option to order more? Simply either put a tag that states they’re currently sold out or continue to take orders with an appropriate shipping estimate prior to purchase.
And again, even if Sony had removed the ability to purchase more Z4 Tablets due to high volume, it doesn’t explain why they’ve delayed the shipment date for those who’ve already purchased one.
Unfortunately information is slim on this so the best I can due is hypothesize. Though being released in limited countries, I’ve yet to hear about a release date slip for other territories. Short of Sony finding a last minute flaw which doesn’t explain a delay of only 1 week, this whole debacle could either be due to Sony and their shipping carriers running into issues or trouble from the factory where they’re being produced. Sony could be doing everything in their power to fulfill current orders while making the rest wait while they figure out production.
Till we hear from Sony, take all information, including ours, with a grain of salt. The only confirmed information is a week delay on the Xperia Z4 Tablet for those in UK and Sony removing the option to purchase more.

Why do you think Sony is delaying the Xperia Z4 Tablet and halting future orders?
