Launched in May, PlayStation Vue is a new kind of internet-based cable service from Sony which forgoes the traditional cable provider. Instead, all you need is an internet connection and till now, a PS3 or PS4. Once you’ve signed up, PlayStation Vue gives you three different tiers which start at $50 is less expansive than traditional cable, due to the unbundling that Sony is able to do with the service.

As I mentioned, till now, you could only access the service from a PlayStation console but all that changes today with the arrival of the service to iPad.

There are no conflicts to worry about, and there’s thousands of hours of storage available.
  • Favorite Channels: Give your channel-surfing thumb a break. Tag your favorite channels so they are front and center in the Guide and on the Home Screen.
  • Explore: Find the perfect show for you. Narrow thousands of shows by genre, channel and other powerful filters so you can find exactly what you’re looking for.
  • Search: Stop guessing what’s on. Integrated search combines results for live, Catch Up and recorded My Shows. Search history is saved for easy recall.

Currently limited to just New York City, Chicago, and Philadelphia with plans on expanding to other major cities in the near future, PlayStation Vue also has the unique ability to offer you local channels, something that other internet-based cable subscriptions don’t offer. There’s also no commitment which means you can cancel your service at any time with no hassle or pitch to sign up for a phone service.

Just recently, Sony expanded the channels offered through PlayStation Vue.
