Sony and T-Mobile are starting to feel like high schoolers dating who are on again and off again every other week. In early April, T-Mobile would pull the Sony Xperia Z3, only to offer it for sale nearly a month later. Since before that that time, T-Mobile has also given vague assurances that Android 5.0 Lollipop would come to the Sony Xperia Z3 and Z1s with the former having finally received the latest Android build earlier this month.
After having just introduced Android 5.0 Lollipop for the Xperia Z3, T-Mobile has now pulled the phone from their online store.
Instead those who are interested in a Sony smartphone and T-Mobile are offered to purchase a certified pre-owned Xperia Z (not even the Z3) or the Xperia Z1s. The reasoning at this point remains unclear though looking at Verizon might make the situation clearer.
Earlier this week, Verizon revealed that the Sony Xperia Z3+ (Z4 in Japan) would come to the carrier under the name of Xperia Z4v. It’s worth noting that the ‘v’ does’t simply stand for Verizon and that there are some exclusive features for the carrier. Previously, Sony would release the Xperia Z3 to T-Mobile while Verizon scored the Xperia Z3v with exclusive features like wireless charging.
With Verizon and T-Mobile both carrying the outgoing Xperia Z3, it’s likely not a far stretch to assume that the Xperia Z4 or whatever it will be called is also coming to T-Mobile sometime during summer. However, till we know more, as it stands, if you want an Sony smartphone from T-Mobile, you’re likely better off purchasing your own and bringing it to the carrier.

Do you think the Xperia Z4 is headed to T-Mobile?
