1TB PS4 Becomes Official, Just Maybe Not For You

In early June, we got word of two new PS4 models, which included a 1TB model, thanks to the FCC. While we assumed E3 would be where Sony would unveil the new models, their official release was held back till this week. This move was likely done in order to stay on message during the week and focus on the amazing array of titles that would be coming to PS4.

However, it’s not all roses with the new 1TB PS4. Those details after the jump.

Sony’s description of the 1TB PS4:

Offering twice the storage of the existing PS4, you’ll be able to download more of the games you love to your PS4, extend your play with more great add-on content and save and share even more of your best gaming highlights.

Doesn’t sound bad, right? Well the caveat is that depending on where you live, you might not be able to get your hands on this new model. According to Sony, the 1TB PS4 will arrive on July 15th in

 select Europe and PAL territories

When pressed about a North American release, Sony would only say that

We have no plans to announce at this time.

Which isn’t all that helpful, nor surprising. This certainly doesn’t mean we can’t expect one around holiday time. Sony was also mum on the pricing though we’ll also find that out no later than July 15th. Obviously for those playing at home, you can always purchase a normal 500GB PS4 and upgrade the internal drive yourself.

Still, there is something to be said about having the option directly from factory with warranty on your side.
