While a little late to this story, it’s one that I’ve been wanting to cover. If you know me at all, you’ll know that Destiny is one of my favorite games (of all time?). Between running SRN and a few other projects, Destiny gives me the right balance between long gameplay (hello Crota on hard) and a quick, jump in, play, and get out in 15 minutes while having done something to advance in the game (thinking Roc strikes though Prison of Elders is even better if you have a bit more time).
Because of that, I’m super excited to see that Sony and Bungie are teaming up and releasing a limited edition Destiny: The Taken King PS4 bundle. Now let’s talk details after the jump.
First let’s get the nitty gritty out of the way. Here’s what you’ll be getting:
- Destiny-inspired 500GB Limited Edition PS4
- Physical copy of Destiny: The Taken King Legendary Edition
- Destiny: Expansions I and II, and The Taken King.
- Upgrade to the Digital Collector’s Edition
- Three exotic Guardian class items with XP bonuses
- Three classic-specific emotes
- Three armor shaders
- Early access weapons pack.
While not specific to this bundle, PS4 players in general will get access to exclusive content which will automatically come with the bundle. Those include
- Co-op Strike (Echo Chamber)
- PvP multiplayer map (Sector 618)
- Three legendary gear sets (Hesperos, Azoth Bend, and Neuroghast)
- Exotic scout rifle (the Jade Rabbit)
Of course then there’s all the goodies which come with The Taken King, though that’s not specific to this bundle. What strikes me about this particular bundle is how beautiful the PS4 is. While sometimes graphics on a PS4 look forced, the Destiny variant, which showcases a map of the cosmos in silver with the Guardian’s crest set in gold right in the center, is simply beautiful. If it weren’t for the two PS4s and PlayStation TV (PS Vita TV) in the house, this would be a no brainer purchase for me.
The Limited Edition Destiny: The Taken King PS4 will launch alongside The Taken King DLC on September 15th. No word yet on price.

Do you like designed PS4 consoles or do you prefer the traditional black?
