PlayStation Now, the cloud based game streaming service from Sony, is the future of gaming. While I’m sure there will be a PlayStation 5 and perhaps even PS6 on the horizon, the writing on the wall is that PlayStation will eventually become an app, thanks to faster internet speeds and more powerful servers.

We’ve already seen the transition happen to video where, instead of needing a Blu-ray disc, you can simply navigate Netflix and similar services instead (for those playing at home, I’m still a hardcore Blu-ray purchaser so while streaming is nice, it still doesn’t give me the lossless audio and video I crave or the extras I enjoy). Much like Netflix, Sony has been busy expanding PS Now beyond PS4 to Sony’s entire 2015 fleet of televisions and Blu-ray players. You can even find PS Now on select 2015 Samsung televisions with a TBA date for PS3 and PS Vita.

With more devices set to gain the app in the future, Sony is giving its streaming service a much needed overhaul and we’ve got the details.

With its July addition of new games, Sony has also completely overhauled the PlayStation Now app on PS4. With the new UI, you can expect a richer and far more visual design that’s meant to help you better find content. That means you’ll see curated categories of games organized by themes like ‘Top Rated’ and ‘Action Adventure.’

Though a no brainer, unlike other streaming platforms that have been around for a decade, PS Now has only been live for a year and has a lot of catching up to do. Another way Sony is improving the PS Now app is by incorporating more detailed game pages with descriptions, images, and videos.

If there is one thing that truly bugs me about PSN, it’s the lack of info on game pages, including often SD trailers.
