Verizon Prepares for Sony Xperia Z4v By Discontinuing Xperia Z3v

Say goodbye to the Sony Xperia Z3v (D6708) on Verizon. The slight variant of the Xperia Z3, which was designed for Verizon with extra features like wireless charging, has officially reached its ‘end of life’ status. As of today, the phone has been discontinued by Big Red as it no longer shows up on their website.

However, fear not as this is actually good news.

While the Xperia Z3v is going away, Verizon is making room for another flagship product. The Sony Xperia Z4v, much like the Z3v, is a special variant created specifically for the giant provider. This time around, you’ll be treated to a larger battery and higher resolution screen among other things.

No specific release date or price has been given yet though we should be learning those details fairly soon. It’s worth noting that Verizon is doing away with its two-year contracts so don’t expect $199 or $299 pricing on the Xperia Z4v. Instead, like other phones the carrier offers, you’ll pay either up front for the phone or have the price divided between different periods like 12, 18, and 24 months.
