PlayStation Vue, the cloud streaming TV service from Sony, continues to grow. Expanding both the devices it’s available on and the cities it’s offered in, PS Vue is gaining yet another unique option as we move towards a future of a la carte TV. Like Showtime, you can now subscribe to Fox Soccer Plus as a standalone channel with no requirement for one of the three bundles offered.
Details after the jump.
With soccer season kicking into full gear in Europe, those with PlayStation Vue can get Fox Soccer Plus for $14.99/mo or $12.99/mo if you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber. Sony offered a similar discount for Showtime where the normally $10.99/mo channel can instead be had for $8.99/mo.
What makes these types of channel offerings more exciting is that they come with no requirement for one of the three bundles that PlayStation Vue offers, which start at $39.99. It’s been a long time coming that TV would transform into a service where consumers could pick and pay for the channels they want without tacking on a bunch of additional channels which in turn mean a more expensive bundle. On top of that, historically, premium channels like HBO and Showtime have always only been offered with other channels.
PlayStation Vue, though not there yet, is taking a big leap by offering channels like Fox Soccer Plus and Showtime as standalone channels. Better yet, all channels through PS Vue, bundled or not, are not tied to any contracts, allowing you to easily cancel whenever you’d like.
Perhaps the best part of all this will be easy access to Bundesliga which is officially being offered by Fox in the US. That means all the Bayern Munchen you can handle.
