It’s been teased, unofficially delayed and teased again but Android 6.0 Marshmallow is finally here for the Sony Xperia Z5 family. Specifically, the Sony Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, and Z5 Premium running on NTT DoCoMo in Japan are receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow (firmware 32.1.F.0.43).
More details after the jump, including screenshots.
The new Android build which is now live and ready for your downloading pleasure includes:
- New Xperia Home launcher
- New Camera app UI with fast switching option between photo and video mode
- Call History “call history filter” on the screen (missed calls, incoming, outgoing, etc.) items will be displayed at all times
- Security patches for fingerprint sensor
- Visibility of the application screen using is improved recently. In accordance with the operation of the screen, it will be hidden is small app bar that appears at the bottom
No word yet on rollout for other carriers and countries but seeing how I’d previously heard March 7th as the targeted release date, a wider release of Marshmallow is likely just a few days away. For those wondering, don’t expect to see the new UI running on the recently revealed Xperia X family to ever pop up on the Xperia Z5 series.
I’ll be updating this article as more details come to light.
