In late March, Sony opened up PlayStation VR pre-orders for the first time on Amazon and they sold out within minutes. Sony followed with another pre-order offering the following week to the same result. Now months later, PlayStation VR continues to do well prior to its release with lines forming in Japan to order one.
Now Sony opened up pre-ordering via GameStop for the first time and the results were by now predictable.
Bob Puzon, senior vice president of merchandising at GameStop:
The fact that this second allotment sold out in a matter of minutes demonstrates the customer anticipation and fervor for this exciting interactive technology
Keep in mind that this was the second time Sony opened up pre-orders that week with GameStop. But it’s perhaps more fascinating that PS VR should be put in context that it requires you to have a PS4. It’s not as if a new console is launching which is a positive sign for Sony that their user base is aware and interested.
For those wanting a PlayStation VR when it launches this October, there is still hope though it’s unclear if additional pre-order will be for launch date or not.
We’re working closely with Sony to get more PS VR units, and will let our customers know when they become available.

Have you pre-ordered a PS VR or are you still waiting?
