In a bit of initial bummer news, Star Trek: Bridge Crew, a VR-based experience, has been delayed until 2017. Though I’ve yet to have a chance to give it a spin myself, it’s been unanimously praised by those who’ve spent time with it at E3 and PAX so it’s something that I’d been looking forward to try. Luckily the delay isn’t all that long.
In order to deliver the best game experience possible at launch, we have decided to push the release of Star Trek: Bridge Crew to March 14, 2017. Star Trek: Bridge Crew is designed exclusively for VR and we want to offer a compelling and engaging experience. Command of the USS Aegis is right around the corner!
ST: Bridge Crew was originally set to launch on its maiden voyage on November 29th for PlayStation VR. As regular readers will note, I’m always in favor of game delays if it means a better product when it launches. As a developer, you only get one shot at impressing the masses and all the bug fixes after the fact won’t remove any initial negative impressions.
