Sony Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and Z3 Tablet Compact to Offer Industry Leading Water and Dust Resistance
In just short few hours, Sony’s IFA keynote will kickoff where it’s expected that the Sony Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact (pictured above), and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact among other devices will be unveiled. Only an hour ago did Sony accidentally reveal the QX1 E-mount attachable smartphone lens price and release date by accidentally allowing the product to appear on their online portal. Now, thanks to another slip from Sony UK’s website description that appeared in search engines, we’ve been able to learn a bit more about the three devices and their industry leading water and dust resistant.
Later today, Sony should be unveiling the QX30 and QX1. While the former is more in line with previous QX models aside from an improved 30x optical zoom, the latter is an entirely different beast. Unlike the QX30, the QX1 is a 20.1-megapixel attachable E-mount smartphone lens with sensor adaptor so to speak, which allows you to connect any E-mount lens to your favorite iOS and Android smartphone/tablet. Thanks to Sony’s website, we’ve now been able to learn a little more.
In less than 12 hours, Sony will kick off its IFA keynote where they are expected to announced the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact alongside other devices like the QX30, an attachable smartphone lens with 30x optical zoom. At this point, there isn’t a whole lot that hasn’t been leaked from the products we expect Sony to announce. Even the Xperia Z3, the company’s next flagship Android smartphone has been leaked numerous times, but the following may be the most telling yet.
While we’ve seen Xperia Z3 specs appear from time to time, the following photo (found after the jump) if true, will be the most revealing yet. Though we cannot independently confirm the validity of the photo, with the Xperia Z3 announcement right around the corner and many of the specs lining up with previous rumors, the picture is looking more and more like the real thing.
After the jump, the leaked Sony Xperia Z3 specs, including battery size, camera resolution/ISO, and audio formats, await you.
Thanks to earlier leaks in the day, we’ve already learned that the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact will come in four beautiful colors which include mint, black, orange, and white. While mum is the word on pricing and availability, we’ve been able to find a little bit more about the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact specs and they should be quite pleasing. The Xperia Z3 Compact specs include:
- Android 4.4.4
- 4.6-inch Display
- 720 Resolution
- 20.7-Megapixel Rear Facing Camera
- 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 Chipset
- 2600 mAh Battery
- 4G LTE
- Bluetooth + NFC
- 802.11ac
- Nano SIM
If there was any doubt in your mind that Sony would be announcing the QX30, an attachable lens with 30X optical zoom for your smartphone then let them rest. As you can see from the above photo, the QX30 like its predecessor will once again clip to your iOS and Android smartphone to allow for superior pictures. While we don’t have have specs to reveal about the QX30 besides the 30x optical zoom, Sony for the most part has kept the design the same. Like previous models, the QX30 will latch on to your device and features manual controls for zoom and shutter. The QX30 also a separate battery and microSD card slot to help offset the burden that would otherwise be placed on your device.
After the jump, we have more details and lots more pictures to share with you.
Late last month, Sony unveiled the Xperia M2 Aqua. Nearly identical to the Xperia M2 which was released in early 2014, the Xperia M2 Aqua offers everything from that smartphone in a waterproof housing. Specifically, the Sony Xperia M2 Aqua offers IP65/68 waterproofing which bests their current flagship Xperia Z2 (IP58). In tern, the waterproof Xperia M2 Aqua can sit in depths of 1.5 meters for up to half an hour. Since that time, we’ve seen press shots of the Xperia M2 Aqua in copper though no such device has ever materialized. Now, we’ve learned why.
The Sony Xperia Z3 hasn’t been much of a secret. Leaks having been appearing all over these past few months and so a reveal at Sony’s IFA 2014 keynote was a sure thing. The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact on the other hand has been more elusive. While we’ve seen schematics of the device and some low quality photos, we’ve never been able to confirm the devices true existence. Now, with less than 24 hours before Sony’s keynote, a gorgeous photo revealing the Xperia Z3 Compact has leaked. To make things better, it looks like Sony will be offering the smaller handset in mint, black, orange, and white.
Over a year ago, Sony released the QX10 and QX100 attachable smartphone lenses. Compatible with iOS and Android devices, the mountable lenses would allow you to improve photos taken on your device by utilizing into their higher megapixel sensor and zoom lens. We already believe that Sony will announce the QX30 tomorrow at IFA 2014 with 30X optical zoom but now even a juicer product has leaked, the Sony ILCE-QX1 attachable smartphone lens with an E-mount lens.
