In exactly three weeks, House of Wolves, the highly-anticipated DLC for Destiny, will be released, which will bring some big changes to the game alongside new content. Alongside the new DLC, Destiny update 1.2 will go live and bring with it tweaks for all players, whether you’ve purchased the DLC or not. Since the start of the year, Sony has been busy renaming and killing services that didn’t match up with its plans moving forward. Under this house cleaning, Sony ended its attempts at competing in the music streaming space and in doing so, killed Music Unlimited. Luckily for those on PlayStation, the service was replaced by PlayStation Music, which is actually a skin for Spotify as the service is entirely powered by them. In order to simplify its naming structure, Sony has also renamed their Walkman app on Android to simply Music. As Sony themselves put it:
Not all people make the connection that Walkman is about music. So, to simplify for all our users, we are changing the name to make it easy to understand what this app gives you: Music
Now Sony is renaming another one of their services.
Just yesterday, we put together a list of devices that support PlayStation Now. With support for the streaming gaming service, you’re able to enjoy PlayStation 3 games without the need to own the console. All you need is a half decent internet connection (5Mbs or faster) and you’re off to the races. Now, Sony Blu-ray player owners can take advantage of the streaming service as well. More details after the jump.
It’s no secret that Sony rightfully sees the future of gaming in the cloud. While in the past 20 years of PlayStation, we’ve seen hardware iterations that continue to improve, there will be a time that all you’ll need to get the latest PlayStation experience is a web connection and a compatible device.
Sony is already doing this by bringing PlayStation Now, their gaming streaming service which allows you to rent individual titles or subscribe for a flat fee (a la Netflix), to devices outside of the PlayStation family. This includes Sony televisions, Blu-ray players, and most recently, their 4K fleet.
After the jump, we’ve put together the most recent list of devices that support PlayStation Now.

Last night, thanks to the fantastically awesome and second Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser, the internets both imploded and exploded at the same time. Not being a fan of spoilers, I had initiated the “head in the sand’ protocol out of fear of too many spoilers from the movie, the same thing that I believe is currently plaguing Avengers: Age of Ultron in which case I feel as if the whole movie has been shown. Not wanting to eventually run into a screenshot of a pivotal scene from the trailer that would ruin a surprise, I finally caved in and saw the trailer which holds no punches yet reveals very little still, thanks to the mastery of J.J. Abrams. For those who haven’t seen it yet, the trailer can be found after the jump.
Less than 24 hours later, the internet is once again experiencing the impossible implosion/explosion. If the film trailer from yesterday can be described as having the destruction power of a fully operational Death Star, then today’s trailer from Star Wars: Battlefront likely packs the punch of a Star Destroyer. Much like the film teasers, the trailer gives away very little but what can be seen is impressive. That trailer, HD screenshots from it, more details, and a special stitched together widescreen image await you after the jump.
Not to be left out of the celebration, PlayStation Video on the PlayStation Network will also be where you can get your Star Wars fix. Specifically, you can now purchase Star Wars Episode 1-6 as part of the Digital Movie Collection which features never-before-seen special features. Unlike traditional movie collections, users can opt to purchase all 6 movies or individually pick the titles they like.
After the jump, pricing details and what you can expect from the special features on Star Wars: The Digital Movie Collection.

The PlayStation Plus games for March include Never Alone (PS4), Dishonored (PS3), and Killzone: Mercenary (PS Vita).

When PlayStation Now initially launched, the service was limited to allowing you to rent games on a title-by-title basis. While great for those who wanted an occasional game, it left something to be desired for gamers who wanted to sample all kinds of games or binge-game over their weekend. Months later, Sony would also introduce a subscription service which, for $20/mo, allowed you to game as much as you wanted. Just last week, we released a list of games that’s available for rent via PlayStation Now. After the jump, we have a list of games that’s available via the subscription service which differs from the rental library.
Since PlayStation 4 system update 2.50, PlayStation Now has turned into a system default install where previously it was a downloadable app from the PlayStation Store. For those unfamiliar, PlayStation Now allows you to rent over 200 PS3 games, starting at just $.99. Sony hopes by having the streaming service installed from on each PS4, that more gamers will be aware of it and take advantage of the service which just gained a few new titles. New games on PlayStation Now include:
- Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception
- Super Stardust HD
- Hustle Kings
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma
- Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate
After the jump, the full list of games available for rent via PlayStation Now await you.
Sometimes it’s hard to differentiate the difference between downloading a new game and a software update when the update alone is over 600MB. Such is the case of LittleBigPlanet 3 update 1.06, which was released for PS4 (616MB) and PS3 (162MB). The update is designed to address a number of fixes to help improve the game’s stability and remedy a number of issues which will be outlined after the jump.
In addition to bug fixes, new features are being added to the game like new sorting and filtering options to the game’s text search. PS4 users will also enjoy some additional visual tweaks like Sackboy, OddSock, Toggle and Swoop appearing to be wet after swimming in water. The full LittleBigPlanet 3 update 1.06 changelog awaits you after the jump.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow,
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky,
The larks, still bravely singing, fly,
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
These words were written by Lt. Col. John McCrae during the Great War (1914-18). Here in Canada, across Europe and other former British Colonies we marked the centennial anniversary of the start of the First World War this past July. Just prior to that on June 24th 2014 Ubisoft Montpellier released a small game to commemorate the occasion. After the jump, we have the details on this bite sized, but highly rated game.
With PlayStation 4 system update 2.50, gamers were granted the ability to suspend/resume a game which translates into drastically shorter times when turning off/on your console and getting back into your previous game. While many games support the feature right out of the gate, Destiny, one of the most popular games on PS4, lacked the ability to utilize the newly added feature. With Destiny update 1.1.2, all that will change as Bungie will bake in the functionality. Beyond that, other major tweaks will be coming to Destiny like larger vault sizes in preparation for the upcoming House of Wolves expansion.
More details after the jump.
