How_To_Report_An_Inappropriate_Message

Have you ever received a message from another PlayStation user that you consider inappropriate or harassment? Unfortunately this can happen when you are dealing with others in an online community. Luckily, Sony has set up a system to report these users as long as their message violates the terms of use. Sony takes all reports seriously and will even go as far as to ban players from the network for inappropriate activity. Sony’s 2014 Gamescom Lineup Includes ‘Journey,’ ‘Unfinished Swan’ for PS4

Gamescom

From LittleBigPlanet 3 to Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, E3 had some big reveals for the PlayStation family of devices. But E3 isn’t the only major gaming show this year, and the Cologne, Germany-based Gamescom is right around the corner. While there are several unannounced titles sure to be front-and-center, like Media Molcule’s colorful new PS4 game, or maybe the next big Corey Barlog joint from Santa Monica Studios, Sony Europe has (accidentally) revealed a preliminary list of what will be playable on the show floor.

Should You Buy ‘Rogue Legacy?’

Rogue Legacy

Last year at Gamescom 2013, Sony announced that the PC hit Rogue Legacy would be coming to all 3 PlayStation platforms in 2014. I was thrilled when I heard the announcement as I was already a big fan of the game and with the release coming up next week on July 29th,  I have been lucky enough now to play the game on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Playstation Vita! For those of you that don’t know, Rogue Legacy is a very challenging platformer that has many roguelike qualities and includes procedurally generated layouts in the dungeon. Keep reading to see whether the fun and challenge of this game translates well to the PlayStation platforms!

Sony Settles 2011 PSN Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit for $15 Million

PSN Welcome Back - PSN Data Breach

Remember way back in 2011 when the PlayStation Network was compromised and in order to address the security threat, Sony took PSN down for over a month? Once Sony was able to get things back on track again, the company kicked off a ‘Welcome Back’ campaign that offered gamers free games, extended PS+ memberships, and free access to then-called Qriocity. With the PSN data breach, the real threat of identity theft loomed as thousands of gamer information was stolen from Sony servers. To help counter that, Sony partnered with Debix to provide one-year identity-theft protection, free of charge for PSN and Qriocity users.

Despite all this and a personal apology letter from then CEO, Sir Howard Stringer, Sony would eventually face a class action lawsuit by some that believed they were the victim of identity theft. The same people of course decided not to participate with identity-theft protection but the suit would move ahead. Now Sony has finally decided to settle the PSN data breach lawsuit and bring the whole thing to a close for $15 million, but there is more to the story.

Blu-ray 3D Support to Arrive with PS4 Firmware 1.75 Next Week?

PS4 Firmware 1.75 to Bring Blu-ray 3D SupportOne of the most baffling omissions from the PlayStation 4 has been the ability to support Blu-ray 3D playback. A functionality that the PS3 gained many years ago, and one that even most sub $100 Blu-ray players support has till now been a cause of hesitation for home theater buffs who have an extensive collection of Blu-ray 3D films. If they move onto the PS4, it means playback will no longer be possible so either would-be upgrade have to keep both PS3 and PS4 or hold off till Sony brought the functionality to the PS4. To make matters worse, Microsoft recently announced Blu-ray 3D support would be coming to the Xbox One, making Sony’s own console lacking in the media playback depart despite Sony being one of the biggest champions of Blu-ray and 3D.

Luckily, it seems like the PS4 Blu-ray 3D crises might end as early as next week thanks to PS4 firmware 1.75.

PS4 Sells 72k More Units in June Than Xbox One

Official PS4_02Yesterday it was revealed that PS4 beat the Xbox One sales for the 6th month in a row. This is despite Microsoft landing TitanFall as an exclusive and promoting the hell out of it wherever it they could, including at the movie theaters which likely isn’t cheap. On top of that, directly after E3, Microsoft unbundled Kinect from the Xbox One and in doing so, reduced the entry price by $100 down to $399 and on par with the PlayStation 4. Despite all of that, the PS4 was still able to easily hold off the Xbox One in the June NDP. Let’s talk numbers, including that of other consoles like the PS3 and Wii U.

Despite ‘TitanFall’ and Price Cut on Xbox One, PS4 Remains on Top

PS4_FireworksIn the last few months, Microsoft has done a lot to help improve sales of the Xbox One. Landing TitanFall as an exclusive was certainly a huge win for Microsoft and a $100 price cut by removing Kinect which took into affect at E3 certainly helped position the consoler as a better competitor to the PS4. In fact Microsoft has publicly stated that sales of the Xbox One had “more than doubled” versus May when each console sold for $499. Unfortunately for the folks at Redmond, none of this was enough to dethrone PS4 where the powerful console has stayed at the number one spot for 6 months in a row now.
