At a recent SCEA GDC Online 2011 presentation, Gabe Ahn, a developer support engineer for Sony Computer Entertainment America, stated that to date, Sony has shipped 8.3 million units of the PlayStation Move worldwide. And that almost 7 PS Move games have been shipped to North America.
Compared to the very casual-gamer -friendly Kinect (although it’s changing some), the PlayStation Move has seen a diverse set of games released specifically for/compatible with it. From AAA titles like SOCOM 4, Killzone 3, and LittleBigPlanet 2, to smaller, more niche titles like Eyepet and The Fight: Lights Out, the PlayStation Move offers something for everyone, no matter their choice of play style.

Ahn also noted that many third-party publishers are including the PlayStation Move in their upcoming games. Titles like Ninja Gaiden 3, Bioshock Infinite, and DUST 514 will have some form of PS Move support when they are released.
Aside from the typical gaming uses for the Move, Ahn talked about the recently released development tool Move.me, which gave developers and researchers access to a development suite that could help them with their projects outside the realm of gaming. Some projects noted were physical rehab exercises and math exercises for students.
While some may say that 8.3 million worldwide isn’t as successful as Microsoft’s Kinect, Sony says that the PlayStation Move is a much better way to control a game; it allows for the most accurate 3D motion tracking (especially with buttons) and is “the best offering for the current generation” of gaming technologies.
