PS Vita Gets ‘Phantasy Star Online 2’ in 2013, PC Cross-play Compatible

Last year, Sega announced that Phantasy Star Online 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the extremely popular MMO dungeon crawler, would be coming only for Windows PCs, much to the dismay of the series’ longtime console fans. However, last week Sega producer Satoshi Sakai announced that PSO 2 would also be coming to the PS Vita sometime next year.

The Vita version of the game will be hosted on the same servers as the PC version and will run using the same data so that players can use one persistent character on the Vita and the PC, as well as play with people from both versions of the game.

Besides obvious new additions like jumping and third-person targeting, not much else is known about PSO 2, but from the looks of the most recent trailer, the game looks to recapture the same addictive qualities of the original released on the Sega Dreamcast back in 2000.
