Providing great content is only half the battle when it comes to building a site like ours. Though great content can be enriching to the readers, without a properly laid out design and user experience, the content may suddenly seem an after thought, due to poor layout. Even worse is when a site you enter bombards you with all forms of content and graphics, once again taking away from the central reason you have landed on that website or clicked on a particular article in the first place. Being a former employee of Apple and now working as an independent consultant for them, I cherish the idea of simplicity. An easy-to-follow website has always been my goal for this site where content is never more than a click away. Still, my knowledge of HTML, PHP, and all other manners of coding can only take me so far.
Enter our newest member, Ricardo Feliciano, who is now heading our UI/UX initiative. Though we’ve yet to make any drastic changes to our design, over the past month, Ricardo, myself and the team have been hard at work on the website, applying what may seem minute changes that are in fact, part of a grander site design. In his own words, Ricardo is
a web developer who discovered his love of websites at the age of 12, when he began to develop his programming abilities with the aid of online resources. He further developed his talents through a series of independent ventures under Revidian Enterprises, and the United States Navy. Ricardo is currently the sole proprietor of Revidian Enterprises, a New York-based business. He is also an IT in the USNR, a member of the Ubuntu New York LoCo Team, and a UI/UIX designer for SonyRumors. Ricardo’s programming ability goes well beyond web development; he’s a true technologist.
As our larger initiative continues to develop, we hope that you join us on our Forums, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube, where you’ll see some of Ricardo’s vision will be present.
