For two years, PlayStation 3 fans have been able to enjoy NFL Sunday Ticket by purchasing the service from DirecTV via a native app. While DirecTV customers would get a discount on the monthly for the highly desired service, anyone with a broadband access to get in on the NFL action though they would have to pay more. Now, according to Sony, the app which allowed you to watch any NFL game in session will no longer be available to PlayStation 3 owners this season though we assume he means indefinitely. Though Sony didn’t comment further on the matter, the reasoning behind it seems clear. Microsoft.
When the Xbox One was revealed way back in May, one of the reasons it was so poorly received was due to Microsoft spending too much time on its entertainment values and not enough on gaming. This included a partnership worth $400 million over five years for the NFL. and Microsoft which at the time included the capability to get real time states and fantasy league like standings while watching a game. While Microsoft and the NFL have yet to comment on the deal, it seems highly likely that the deal had many other clauses like taking away any NFL offering from Sony on the PlayStation.
With Microsoft having dismayed formers fans and the media with so many baffling decisions on the Xbox One and then having to back track on them, despite having what seems like an unlimited stock pile of cash which you’d think would buy you some smart people, (remember when Kinect launched and MS spent $500 on a advertising campaign for it?) it makes you wonder what Sony could do if they had such money to throw around.

Do you think the PS3 will not be getting the NFL Sunday Ticket because of the NFL Xbox One partnership or were other unknown factors in play?
