Sony Registered Two New ‘LittleBigPlanet’ Trademarks; Is a PS4 Title in the Works?

Oh the patent and trademark system. You give us so much hope, leak so much information, yet tend to never materialize on some of your coolest outings. As always, when we talk about a trademark or patent, it should be taken with a grain of salt as many companies, including Sony, will regularly file for a trademark or patent for something that may never come to be. With that, it seems that Sony recently filled for two trademarks in the UK with the words LBP in them. For those not familiar, LBP most often stands for LittleBigPlanet, the highly regarded title from Media Molecule who just recently shipped TearAway on PS Vita to much critical claim as well. So what are the two trademarks?

The first of the two LBP trademarks goes to describe:

Electronic games services provided by means of the internet; Internet games (non-downloadable); organizing of games; providing of an on-line gaming service enabling physically remote players of an electronic game to search online for other players and to communicate with selected players drinking game; organizing, staging and the provision of an online video and computer game tournaments in competitions.

While all trademarks are meant to be vague in order to not give away anything, the description sounds an awful like LittleBigPlanet HUB which was announced for PS3 at E3 and will launch later this year. For those not familiar, LittleBigPlanet HUB is a free PSN title that will give you your very own pod and access to a full range of free and exclusive content.  The more interesting of the two and far more vague one goes to describe:

Toys, games and playthings; bags and cases adapted or shaped to contain handheld electronic game devices and computer game peripherals and accessories; parts and fittings for all aforementioned goods

While there isn’t a lot to go by there, it’s easy to extend that description to a LittleBigPlanet title. With the team having just finished a title for the PS Vita and a LittleBigPlanet HUB headed to the PS3, it stands to reason that the next LBP title will be landing on the PS4. Then again, all of this could turn out to be nothing, though as a LBP fan, I’m hoping for the former!

What platform would you like to see a new LBP game come to? PS3? PS4? Vita?
