Thanks to a leaked screenshot, it seems possible that inFamous: Second Son, the third installment in the inFamous series and exclusive to the PlayStation 4 will have some form of online multiplayer. While no details have been announced, the news shouldn’t be a shock in this day and age as all of Sony’s AAA titles have recently offered multiplayer. The trend itself can be traced back a few years when famed developer Naughty Dog took the Uncharted series online and followed with The Last of Us which also surprisingly and yet fittingly included online gameplay. Other titles like God of War: Ascension also support a robust online multiplayer, leaving little doubt that it’s at least been discussed and planned for inFamous: Second Son to incorporate such features. Now if it comes to fruition in the final build of the game is a completely different question. After the jump, we discuss the leaked screenshot.
For those not fluent in Japanese, the interesting part of the above screenshot is the highlighted part which translates to:
“オンライン:対応,” means “Online: Supported.
Now the inFamous world isn’t a complete stranger to online features with inFamous 2 allowing for user generated missions. However as mentioned before, it’s likely that the team at Sucker Punch and Sony will want to push the envelope further as Naughty Dog did between Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3 with the later supporting a far more robust online multiplayer system. Just yesterday, a new trailer for inFamous: Second Son made its away online.
