Sony Updates PlayStation Mobile App on iOS and Android With Streaming Features

Sony has released a new update for the free PlayStation Mobile app on iOS and Android. Among your typical stability improvements, the PlayStation app version 1.60.6 brings “Live from PlayStation” to the app, showing you what your friends are streaming under the apps “What’s New” category. Currently, Ustream videos launch the UStream app while Twitch.tv broadcasts open via the web browser. But that’s not all.

Once again under the “What’s New’ section of the app, playback of video in notifications from PS Store can be found. Sony is also tweaking the app so when launched, your  PS4 is not automatically woken from standby mode, perfect for when responding to friend requests and messages.

Officially changelog:

  • The [Live from PlayStation] feature has been added.
  • Playback of video in notifications from PS Store is now supported. These notifications appear under [What’s New].
  • This app will no longer automatically connect to a PS4™ system that is in standby mode.
  • Stability has been improved.
