Only a few weeks after the PlayStation 4 System Software Update version 1.60 and Sony has a new update ready for download. This time around, the update is a mandatory one though a fairly small one as the 1.61 number represents. While the previous update brought with it compatibility with the PlayStation Pulse Elite Headset, this update is meant to address “stability improvements” as PlayStation Europe’s Chris Owen put it.
After the jump, the official PlayStation 4 System Software Update version 1.61 changelog.
According to Sony, the PS4 firmware 1.61 update brings with it:
- System software stability during use of some features has been improved
Despite the broad term, it’s likely that Sony found some bugs with PS4 firmware 1.60 and is proactively addressing them. Sony has also promised to stay robust with the PS4 and offer timely improvements with new features which firmware 1.61 could be the building blocks of.
For a majority of gamers, PS4 system software update 1.61 should already be download onto your console if you have PlayStation Plus and have enabled your console for standby mode and only an install is required. Others will simply have to access the system update tab on the PS4 to download and install the latest firmware. Those without a dedicated internet connection can visit either the Sony US or UK site and download the firmware though this method will require 300MB of free space on your flash drive.
