This Phil Spencer guy is kind of classy if you ask me. In early January, when sitting down with OXM for an interview, Phil, Vice President at Microsoft Studios, had nothing but good things to say about Sony. This is despite the fact that the PS4 was already pulling ahead of the Xbox One. With E3 around the corner, Phil is once again being vocal with his opinions on Xbox and its competitors and he’s once again praising Sony.
While the question that promoted the reply is definitely from a fanboy in lala land, the response from Phil is polite and on point:
@XBX1GameInsider I don’t think Sony is intimidated. Sony is great brand and strong team. Competition is good, they’ll have a good E3.

While not newsworthy on its own, in the greater context of the video game landscape that sees fans battling each other in the comment section and forums, Phil’s reply hopefully inspires others to swing a little less mud and fud. If anything, the performance or lack thereof on Xbox’s part actually affects Phil’s life since he’s responsible for the division versus a fan who may just not like the other side, because, well, you know.

Do you think execs and high profile members of the industry need to set a better example for the fan base that they cater to?
