Yesterday it was revealed that PS4 beat the Xbox One sales for the 6th month in a row. This is despite Microsoft landing TitanFall as an exclusive and promoting the hell out of it wherever it they could, including at the movie theaters which likely isn’t cheap. On top of that, directly after E3, Microsoft unbundled Kinect from the Xbox One and in doing so, reduced the entry price by $100 down to $399 and on par with the PlayStation 4. Despite all of that, the PS4 was still able to easily hold off the Xbox One in the June NDP. Let’s talk numbers, including that of other consoles like the PS3 and Wii U.
The June NDP results are as follows:
- Wii – 19,000
- Wii U – 140,000
- DS – 1,000
- 3DS – 152,000
- PS3 – 42,000
- PS4 – 269,000
- PS Vita – 15,000
- Xbox 360 – 62,000
- Xbox One – 197,000
The results that will mostly interest you are likely the PS4 with 269,000 units sold versus the Xbox One with 197,000. This puts PS4 ahead of the Xbox One by 72,000 units for the month of June. In just a week’s time, Sony will be releasing their mega PS3 blockbuster in a HD upgrade on the PS4 under The Last of Us Remastered. From there, Sony is expected to do big numbers with Destiny.
Despite being a multi-platform release, Bungie has thus far favored PlayStation, giving those with a PS4 exclusive access to the Destiny Alpha and a week head start to the Destiny Beta. Sony, in partnership with Bungie, will also be offering an exclusive Glacier White PS4 bundle come this September.

Do you think the PS4 will outsell the Xbox One in July as well?
