One of the biggest faults in Sony’s smartphone strategy in the US before now had been a lack of carrier support. With the Xperia Z3, their latest flagship Android smartphone, Sony looked to change its fortunes by teaming up with Verizon and T-Mobile. Now, Sony is kicking things into the next gear by offering the Xperia Z3v free on Verizon with a two-year contract.
Details after the jump.
Previously the Sony Xperia Z3v carried a traditional $199 price tag with a two-year contract. It remains to be seen if this deal is temporary and targeted towards Black Friday and holiday shoppers or if this is a more permanent shift in price. We’ve reached out to Sony about the new pricing but have yet to hear back.
@SonyXperiaUS when does this deal expire?

While the Xperia Z3 has been available on the two aforementioned networks for nearly two months, Sony and the carriers have hardly promoted them outside of an ad dubbed Roof, in which Share Play between PS4 and the Xperia Z3 are shown off. Sony however does little to direct users to a particular carrier.
For those eager to jump on board this deal, we encourage you to look at our previous article where we highlight the exclusive features of the Sony Xperia Z3v which are unique to Verizon.
Thanks to reader galinger49 for the heads up about the new pricing.
Update:
The deal has since expired. The Sony Xperia Z3v is now back up to its normal $199 price with a two year contract.
