While come July 28th, those in Europe will get to enjoy the new and insanely powerful 42-megapixel Sony A7r II, those of us who live in the US will simply have to be content with reading the 104 page owners manual or, at best, pre-ordering the new full-frame camera. While still unconfirmed by Sony, two major retailers have let the camera’s ship date slip – and it’s not that far off!

According to Amazon and BHphoto, the Sony A7r II will be shipping come August 5th. BHphoto tends to get a decent supply of new products from Sony and is a trusted destination for camera enthusiasts with has allowed them access to information prior to other retailers.

With two major retailers providing the same ship date, while still unconfirmed, it’s likely a safe bet that August 5th is a safe date to mark in your calendars, seeing how the product is official and shipping in other territories by then.

Of course, there is always the $3,200 price tag so even a week delay couldn’t help the savings jar. There’s got to be more coins under the couch cushion right?
