For research firm DFC Intelligence, VR is still an unknown. Despite their bullish stance on PS4 reaching 100 million unit sales in its lifetime, the group is more conservative on their VR views.
Overall VR is not expected to have a big impact on the console market.
More from them after the jump.
From DFC Intelligence:
Sony has the biggest VR play with the PlayStation VR but that is only one of several reasons why the PlayStation 4 is expected to be the leading game system over the next few years. VR could actually help the PS4 expand its audience over the next few years but it is currently not crucial to the overall forecasts as DFC is taking a conservative attitude towards the market.
This news isn’t all that surprising. The reality is that most consumers aren’t even aware of VR. Price is also another challenge with PS VR expected to be on the ‘affordable’ side of the market and it will still likely cost $399. Between high costs, relatively light content, and lack of consumer awareness, don’t expect PS VR to truly move the needle for Sony and PS4.
What it will do however is help set up the next chapter of PlayStation as the brand grows, by which time VR prices will have surely dropped and consumer awareness and interest will have risen alongside more robust experiences.

Do you think PS VR will help PS4 sales in any meaningful way?
